What is recycling and what are it’s benefits to me?

Recycling is not just an event it’s a process requiring many pieces. It starts with the business owners who produce the scrap, followed by the collector who buys the scrap from the producer and then in turn sells the scrap to to the processor who produces new steel. These units working together as a whole are recycling. The benefits of recycling are tremendous to both the environment and the recyclers. From the environmental standpoint less raw materials are used in production which greatly reduces pollution and and the destructive effects of mining. Less valuable landfill space is used. For the recyclers the benefits are economic. They get paid for their recycled products and in some cases can use them again thus saving on production materials. Many areas have strict compliance regulations for recycling and waste control; so by recycling businesses can avoid costly fines. Recycling makes sense for everyone.

Is Silver Recovery necessary for my business?

Any business or industry that employs the use of photographic processing chemistry for the development of film or paper produces silver effluents in their processing solutions. Usually these effluents exceed the local sewer discharge limits for silver and should be treated. Depending on the size of operation, either an on-site or off-site recovery system should be used.

What do I do with recovered silver?

Regardless of the type of technique used in Silver Recovery, the silver recovered needs to be sent to a refiner to complete the recovery process. Silver is a commodity and has a market value. Recovery companies will pay whatever the market dictates the price to be.

My business has other scrap metals besides aluminum. Will the Imaging Network take those scraps as well?
